In 2009, my dad and I officially became beekeepers starting with two hives.  Originally I was going to go solo with beekeeping but two weeks prior to getting my first two hives I broke my arm.  With no lifting allowed, my Dad stepped in and said he'd help.  And he stayed even after getting stung.

Dad, Lorne, passed away in 2020 and we miss him dearly.

I am a certified Esthetician (graduated from Fanshawe College, London ON).  I enjoy using my knowledge of skin care to develop body products such as creams, salves, body butter and soap that use beeswax and honey.  I do wild foraging for healing plants known to be excellent for skin care and incorporating them into my products.  It reminds me of gathering rose petals as a child and making rose water.

I started researching honey bees in 2008, and for many years I've been working on a children's novel about honey bees called Bee Magic Chronicles.

Educating people about bees has always been a priority for me.  The more we know the less we are afraid or uncertain about these lovely stinging insects.  I post Fun Bee Facts almost every day on the following

You can read about my adventures and misadventures with the bees on The Bee Journal blog.  A second blog that's specifically geared to children is Bee Magic Chronicles for Kids.  This is where you can learn about mummified and zombie bees and all the amazing things that bees can do.
