Honey Bee

Honey bees are brown and black, fuzzy and collect pollen.  Their hives are in enclosed spaces so that they can protect their honey.

Known as the big fuzzy bee, bumble bees do collect pollen.  Their nests are small and can be in the ground or in walls.  They have a very docile and gentle nature.

Below is a list of beekeepers in Oxford, Middlesex and Elgin counties in southwestern Ontario who will collect honey bee swarms or do hive removals.  Two beekeepers in the list will remove bees from inside walls.  Relax -  Swarming bees are house hunting and are usually not harmful.  For more info see Swarms Explained.

There are twenty-four Bee Clubs in Ontario that represent beekeepers from all the counties. Often they can refer you to beekeepers who collect swarms in your area. The contact info is on the Ontario Bee Association's website:www.ontariobee.com/sales-and-services/got-a-swarm.

If you are a beekeeper in Ontario and you'd like to be added to this swarm list send me an email with the subject Swarm List to barblindberg@rogers.com
